Stripe is a secure online platform to collect payments. Millions of companies use Stripe’s software to accept payments, send payments, and manage their businesses online every day. If your website collects any kind of payment online with a credit card, you'll need a Stripe account to enable this process. Here's some uses my clients have found for Stripe:
- Collect payment for your physical or digital product.
- Accept donations for your nonprofit
- Fees for booking an appointment or service with you
- Charging a subscription fee for a service you offer
Before creating your Stripe account, you'll need your bank account info handy.
How to create your Stripe account
The process of connecting account and processing payments online might seem daunting at first. Thankfully, the process is fast and simple:
- Go to Stripe & Create your account.
- Login to your dashboard & turn your account on by flipping the switch from “Test” to “Live”
- Click “Activate Account” in the pop up window to fill out the standard business details Stripe needs to send you payments.
- Let us know that your account is complete—support@outstandbrand.com.
When you're ready to connect your website's products, payment form, or donation form to Stripe, we'll send you a link and instructions to make the connection between your website and your Stripe account with just few clicks and no technical knowledge required. You'll be able to start taking payments right away after making the connection!
About payment security
As long as you're hosting with Outstand Brand, we provide and install your SSL certificate for free (which is an essential step for securing online payments). We also employ industry-leading firewalls and security scans for your customers' security and your peace of mind. Your website will never store your customers' financial details (bank account, routing, credit card), and so your website is protected from financial data leaks for your customers.
All of the financial transaction details will be stored in Stripe, a highly-secure platform. However, I also recommend the added steps of securing your account with a strong passphrase (which is better than a password) and/or using an authenticator app like Google Authenticator or Authy to make sure your account—and especially your customers' info—is extra locked-down.
If you have questions, feel free to shoot a message to support@outstandbrand.com, and I'll be glad to provide some guidance. However, note that Stripe is a separate entity/account from your website, and troubleshooting for Stripe outside of its use on your site is not covered on any care and maintenance plan.
